ROOTED JOURNEY

10 Nights - 11 Days - Peru

10 NIGHTS  -  11 DAYS  -  PERU
Sacred Valley & Ausangate

ROOTED is an immersive cultural journey through the Peruvian Andes, created for those who wish to experience a place through genuine human connection, herebalism, shared traditions and the rhythm of everyday life.

ROOTED is an invitation to experience the Andes through relationships rather than observation.

For eleven days, we slow down and step beyond conventional travel. We spend time with Quechua families and local initiatives, learn about plants and herbalism, share meals, walk ancestral landscapes and take part in traditions that continue to shape life in the mountains today.

This isn't about seeing more places.

It's about creating space for genuine encounters—those quiet conversations, shared moments and unexpected connections that transform the way we understand a place.

Because we believe the most meaningful journeys are not defined by where we go, but by the people we meet along the way.

An immersive journey through
the Living Andes

A JOURNEY INTO
‍ ‍LIFE AS IT IS LIVED

Rooted takes place across two main
territories in the Peruvian Andes:
the Sacred Valley and the Ausangate region.

In the Sacred Valley, we connect with local communities and initiatives, the Mora family from Maras, Leticia's Hampi Mama Herbal House & Medicinal Garden, living Andean villages, archaeological sites, and a Quechua community from the surrounding mountains, where daily life and cultural traditions continue to thrive.

In the Ausangate region, we visit Don Vicente Quispe's School of Ancestral Knowledge in the Mama Chaya community, spend time with the community of Pachanta, and pilgrimage to the Seven Lakes of Apu Ausangate, experiencing a landscape where nature, culture and ancestral traditions remain deeply intertwined.

Across both territories, the journey unfolds through direct relationships with the people and initiatives that sustain these places, learning through shared time, presence, and participation in daily life.

What We'll Share Together

BOTANICAL WORKSHOPS

Step into the world of Andean and Amazonian plant wisdom through immersive hands-on workshops. Together we'll create healing balms, herbal ointments, natural Agua Florida, sacred smoke bundles, floral bath using locally grown flowers and plants, a traditional floral cleansing ritual, essential oils and hydrolats while discovering the medicinal properties, stories and ancestral uses of native plants that have cared for communities for generations.

PERUVIAN CUISINE

Together with a local family, we'll explore the incredible biodiversity of Peru through its ingredients, learning why each plant, grain and herb has nourished these communities for centuries. We'll cook, taste, prepare traditional recipes and discover how food becomes medicine, culture and a way of bringing people together.

SACRED LANDSCAPES

Walk ancient mountain trails through the Sacred Valley and the Ausangate region. These hikes are not about reaching a destination, but about experiencing the landscapes that continue to shape Andean culture, spirituality and everyday life.

THE COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Spend an afternoon with the children, teachers and families of a community-led school. Learn how education, culture and identity come together in a project that is helping shape future generations while preserving ancestral traditions.

TRADITIONAL WEAVING

Sit alongside Quechua master weavers and become part of a tradition that has been passed from generation to generation. Learn the symbolism woven into every textile, understand the creative process from wool to fabric and discover how each pattern tells the story of a people, a landscape and a way of life.

ANDEAN SOUNDHEALING JOURNEY

Immerse yourself in an intimate sound experience guided by Jorge Munay, where ancestral Andean instruments create a space for stillness, presence and inner connection. An invitation to slow down, listen deeply and reconnect with yourself.

SHARING WITH QUECHUA FAMILIES

Open the door to genuine cultural exchange by sharing meals, conversations and everyday life with Quechua families. Through simple moments and authentic encounters, you'll experience the Andes not as a visitor, but as a welcomed guest.

EVENINGS OF CONNECTION

Some of the most meaningful moments happen after the sun goes down. Around the warmth of a fire, we share cacao, music, stories, laughter and honest conversations. Without distractions or rushing, we create space to truly listen, connect and enjoy the simple beauty of being together.

Journey Itinerary

SPECIAL ENCOUNTER

Don Vicente Quispe

Don Vicente Quispe is a respected Q'ero elder from the Ausangate region of the Peruvian Andes, where he has spent his life preserving the traditions, knowledge and worldview of his ancestors.

The Q'ero people are recognised for safeguarding one of the Andes' most enduring cultural traditions. Living in the high mountains for generations, they have maintained a profound relationship with nature, community and the sacred landscape that continues to shape their way of life today.

Throughout ROOTED, participants will have the opportunity to spend meaningful time with Don Vicente, learning directly from his experience and perspective. Together, we'll explore the traditional use of medicinal plants, the cultural significance of the Apus (sacred mountains) and the Andean principle of reciprocity—an understanding of balance and mutual care between people, nature and the wider world.

One of the most meaningful moments of the journey is the opportunity to participate in a traditional Despacho Ceremony, guided by Don Vicente at the foot of the sacred Ausangate mountain. This ancestral offering expresses gratitude, respect and reciprocity with nature, remaining an important practice within Andean culture today.

Rather than presenting these traditions as something to observe, ROOTED creates the opportunity to experience them through genuine human connection, respectful cultural exchange and time shared with one of the people who continues to carry this knowledge forward.
